Education Department?imash ?imash?e shíshálh s-wiya Welcome to Sechelt Land The shíshálh Nation Education Department is located in the House of Hewhíwus Administration Building, 5545 Sunshine Coast Highway. The Department delivers a wide variety of education,cultural and recreation programs to assist all shíshálh members in a variety of programs and services. VISION STATEMENT The Vision of the Education Department is to provide shíshálh Band members of all ages with the highest educational experience possible for the enhancement of the personal standard of living and overall quality of life. MISSION STATEMENT The shíshálh Nation Education Department's mission is to enhance education services with parental and community participation through financially stable programs..."It takes a village to raise a child" The Education Department is: Committed to enhancing the quality of education for all of our Band members; Committed to community involvement in program development and implementation; Committed to ensure community awareness of programs and services. The Education Department responsibilities are to conduct: Educational Assessments, Planning; Education department restructuring of programs, services and staff to meet the needs of the community; Enhance existing programs; Collaborate with local and provincial schools and government agencies; and Research new programs and services Review and make recommendations for Education Policies and Budget; Develop goals and objectives based on community needs; Advocate with/for parents, children and community members. shíshálh Nation Education Building 5545 Hwy 101 Sechelt

she shashishalhem Program
The Shishalh Nation celebrated the 40 year she shashishalhem Dictionary Project. The book launch took place on October 7, 2011 at the Sechelt Band Community Hall. All of the past Elders' pictures were on display in honor of all their hard work over the last 40 years. Linguist Ron Beaumont, shishalh Elder Maragret Joe-Dixon and she shashishalhem teacher Donna Joe were honored by the community with a blanket and gift for all their years of dedication to the revitalization of the shishalh language. The shishalh Dictionary has approximately 10,000 words and is hard cover. The text book is on sale through the shishalh Education Department, along with the reprint of the "she shashishalhem" lesson book. The lesson book is comprised of 30 lesson that also include auto digital recordings from our Elders and Ron Beaumont. Early Childcare Development
shíshálh Nation provides various programs for Early Child Care Development to assist in the development of children ages 0-6 years old. Programs nurture the healthy growth and development of our children. With programming designed and delivered by shishalh nation staff, the program supports the physical, developmental, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being of children from birth to age six. Children in our Early Childcare Programs gain opportunities to develop self-confidence, a greater desire for learning, an excellent start in their journey towards becoming successful young people.
